The Scrap Project
FRP is delighted to launch The Scrap Project, a much-loved series of creative workshops funded by National Lottery Awards for All. This exciting initiative invites our community to re-imagine waste and scrap materials, transforming discarded fabrics into unique and imaginative creations while reducing what goes to landfill.
The Scrap Project brings together skilled and creative makers in a warm, inclusive environment. Through a mix of individual and group activity, participants develop their sewing and making skills, enjoy valuable social and wellbeing benefits, and make a positive environmental impact. It’s a space to share ideas, experiment freely, learn new techniques, and let creativity lead the way. The participants learn form each other by sharing their ideas and skills.
This workshop is aimed at participants who are confident in hand or machine sewing and comfortable creating their own projects from design to execution. You don’t need to be a professional, but you do need to be happy working independently and creatively.
There are no set instructions—you are the force of creation. The challenge is simple: explore what can be made from small fabric scraps that might otherwise be thrown away. The only limits are the scraps in front of you… and your imagination.
Each project should be completed within two weeks, or you may choose to complete one project per session. Due to the popularity of The Scrap Project, places are selected carefully and participants are currently booked in two-week slots.
