Community Collaboration – Championing Biodiversity
Our goal is not simply to install biodiversity measures, but to catalyse long-term community action.
Working in partnership with community gardens, friends groups, churchyards, pocket parks, shared green spaces, and other local organisations, we help introduce biodiversity measures that support wildlife and improve local habitats for people to enjoy.
Community Collaboration
Our Championing Biodiversity programme brings communities together to create practical, lasting spaces for wildlife while inspiring people to connect with and care for the natural world around them.
Working in partnership with community gardens, friends groups, churchyards, pocket parks, shared green spaces, and other local organisations, we help introduce biodiversity measures that support wildlife and improve local habitats for people to enjoy.
Each community site is unique, and we work collaboratively to understand what is needed most – from pollinator-friendly planting and nesting habitats to educational signage and wider habitat improvements. By involving local volunteers, we help create spaces that continue to grow and develop long after the initial installation.
Supporting Biodiversity in Our Communities
Biodiversity is the rich variety of life that surrounds us – from bees, butterflies, birds, and hedgehogs to wildflowers, trees, fungi, and the healthy soils beneath our feet. Every species plays an important role in maintaining balanced ecosystems that provide clean air, healthy food systems, pollination, flood protection, and greener, healthier communities.
Many of these species are in decline, particularly pollinators, which are essential for food production and healthy plant life. Through our programme, we focus on practical measures that help reverse this decline, including creating nesting habitats, planting wildlife-friendly species, and improving green spaces for nature recovery.

Biodiversity Information Boards
At our partner sites, you will find Championing Biodiversity information boards placed alongside installations and habitat projects. These boards explain:
- what biodiversity is and why it matters
- the wildlife species being supported in that space
- simple actions people can take at home or in their neighbourhood
- how local communities can get involved in protecting nature
These boards are designed to make biodiversity accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life – showing how small actions can make a big difference when communities work together.
What We Create
During the programme, participants make a range of reclaimed-wood biodiversity measures, including:
- pollinator nesting habitats
- insect hotels and bee frames
- bird nesting boxes
- bat boxes
- hedgehog and small mammal shelters
- owl and raptor nesting boxes
- bespoke wildlife measures designed for specific sites
These installations are donated to community partner spaces, including:
- community gardens
- churchyards
- friends groups
- pocket parks
- shared green spaces
- schools and local organisations
Each partner site is different, so installations can be tailored to local wildlife needs and longer-term biodiversity plans.
