Join us for the next Waltham Forest Reuse and Repair Fair, commissioned by @lbwalthamforest and run by @artillery_arts with partners including FRP, Toy Library, and Forest Fixers.
🌿 At the GIVE AND TAKE:
✨ Or bring your own clean, working-condition unwanted items and let someone else rehome them! We take used clothes, toys, books, bric-a-brac, arts and crafts, crockery, cutlery, and kitchen utensils are welcome, as well as small electricals which will be PAT-tested on the day. We will also accept garden tools and house plants, so if you have any that need a new home, bring them along!
✨ Pick up surplus toys, clothes, books, and household/outdoor items with plenty of life left in them. All for FREE.

🌿 We Have Spaces Opening in June for the Green Champions Foundation Programme in Carpentry 🌿
We are pleased to announce that places will be available this June for adults interested in joining our Green Champions Foundation Programme in Carpentry.
This programme offers an excellent opportunity to:
✅ Learn basic carpentry skills and gain confidence in using tools
✅ Build self-confidence in a welcoming, supportive environment
✅ Connect with others and contribute positively to the local community
✅ Play an active role in environmental impact and sustainability
👷 Programme Overview
Participants will attend small-group training sessions once a week, on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 12:30. You can join for a minimum of 4 weeks, up to 12 weeks, depending on your availability and goals.
Sessions are carefully adapted to meet the needs of the group, offering set tasks to choose from as well as space to develop your own ideas and projects.
🌟 Mentorship and Support
The carpentry sessions are led by our highly experienced and supportive mentor, Greg, who specialises in carpentry and tool use. He will guide you through each stage of learning, helping you develop new practical skills while building confidence.
💚 Who Is This For?
The Green Champions Foundation Programme is designed specifically for new volunteers who may benefit from additional wellbeing support. We particularly welcome adults who are experiencing feelings of isolation, anxiety, or low confidence and who wish to engage with their community in a meaningful way.
Through participation, you will not only gain new skills but also help strengthen our collective positive environmental impact, supported by an inclusive and encouraging team.

Each Forest Friend is lovingly stitched by our talented Yanire (with a next one on the way from our amazing volunteer Liz) using offcuts and saved materials. That means every one is totally unique — and 100% sustainable. ♻️✨
When you bring one home, you're not just getting a new cuddly companion — you're supporting creative reuse, reducing waste, and helping our community grow greener together. 🌍🧵

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us at our latest Reuse & Repair Fair! 💚
It was an inspiring day filled with local energy, practical know-how, and community connection.
This special event brings together local residents, eco-friendly businesses, and brilliant community initiatives and charities who mend, repair, and repurpose. From learning about recycling to bringing in old cables, wires, and tablet blister packs for proper recycling – there’s always something useful and surprising!
🛠️ This May’s theme: Outdoor Clothing – just in time for camping and festival season!
Here’s who joined us:
🎒 @decathlonuk – with Laure & Maël sharing expert tips and helping people fix tents, backpacks & jackets
👕 @lcflondon_ – the incredible slow fashion changemakers from London College of Fashion gave advice on upcycling and mending worn garments
🧸 @theyshouthello – Katherine Penton ran the delightful TEDDY BEAR HOSPITAL, bringing soft toys back to life
🎭 @annaheartsart1 & @greatbritishcarnival – crafting carnival masks for kids (and grown-ups too!) 🎨

📢 There are so many ways people and companies can support charities like us – Forest Recycling Project.
Whether it’s by spreading the word that FRP sells reclaimed paint, textiles and wood; buying from us, borrowing tools from our Tool Library, volunteering your time, or donating money or materials – every act of support helps us keep valuable resources in use and out of landfill.
💛 One brilliant example of this support comes from Beardwell Construction Ltd, who recently donated high-quality new tools to the @Walthamstow Tool Library – a project run by FRP. Thanks to their generosity, all our Tool Library members can now enjoy access to a wider range of great tools, making DIY, repair and building more accessible and sustainable for our community.
Beardwell Construction said it best:
“At Beardwell Construction Ltd., we believe in the future of our industry. As part of our project at Willowfield School, we are proud to support the London Borough of Waltham Forest in developing opportunities for tradespeople.(...)Starting out in the industry can be challenging, and having the right tools can make all the difference.”
Their donation helps remove barriers for people starting out in trades, while also reducing waste and promoting reuse. As they put it:
“Having the right tools can make all the difference. By giving back in this way, we hope to empower trades with the resources they need to build confidence and expertise.”
